Sunday sessions #5
Happy Sunday!
I can’t believe this is my fifth Sunday entry.. that means I’ve been writing a blog for almost 5 weeks! Perhaps that’s rookie numbers to a lot of old-time bloggers but for a hobby-hopper girl with a short attention span and zero consistency like me, it’s a pretty big deal.
Anyway, here’s some highlights for the week:
- I recoded my new website from scratch! It’s still in progress and also very ugly on mobile as I try to figure out a way to make it more responsive, but it’s much better than the previous one. I struggled a lot with the first iteration since i was working with iframes. This time it’s just a simple page (though I really hate that I had to copy paste the template for each page.. I really need to start learning how to use static site generators to optimize this process and make things easier for me).
- Completed my third month & streak of daily reels! there are times when I get a little lazy to edit at night, but I persevered and completed another full month of consistent daily reels. I’m on page 90 so far, posted on a secret TikTok account that no one knows about. I think all of the projects i work on secretly without an intended audience are the ones that are the most consistent. Interesting.
- I streamed again! (Albeit only once, but it’s a start) Surprisingly I ended up streaming for almost 7 hours. Apex got me a little addicted once again. I missed the feeling of streaming casually for fun. I originally wanted it to become a full time job, but it seems like everything that money touches easily burns me out. If I can turn this back into a casual hobby with monetary incentive instead of it being the focus, I might just get back into it again. Maybe it’s really all about the mindset.
- a consistent week of walking on the treadmill! I think I successfully shifted the way I think about it by associating good happy thoughts with the activity itself. Whenever I wake up, I feel excited to walk on the treadmill as it gives me time to think and write drafts for my blog, which is the only thing i genuinely love doing lately. It works out really well and I’m happy.
- cleaned my room! After months of procrastinating I finally fully cleaned my room - tidying up, wardrobe reorganization, dusting, and vacuuming. I also did my laundry and all that.
- added more new projects and ideas! I have been getting random shots of inspiration everywhere, one of them notably being from a song I’ve had on repeat for a whole day (My house is not a home by d4vd). There’s about 3 new solid ideas and one of them I feel somewhat excited about and want to start on.
- I made a Substack account just to subscribe to Noodledesk. I really enjoyed her writing so I thought I’ll make the effort to get more of it. It works out since I get to hop and travel and read more stuff from other people (although it feels a bit different from personal blogs as they usually write there for an audience. We’ll see if I can find more interesting artsy ones). The discovery feed is atrocious though, at least on the app. The timeline features Notes instead of recommending the newsletters themselves. But I look through other’s profiles and reads, and found a handful of interesting ones I bookmarked including the very first essay I read from internet princess that almost brought me to tears. It’s so good I’m so happy it’s my first experience.
As a side thought from the first bullet point, sometimes I wish I have a professional front-end developer friend who I can bother any time to bombard with dumb simple questions and the littlest shit like ”why is this text not centered” or something.
I’ve been kinda opening Twitter every now and then lately, but I’m more cautious when scrolling my feed (if I see some dumb shit begging for my attention, I immediately scroll away or close the app). I also started focusing more on the following tab whenever I want a peaceful experience and not wanna risk spiraling down the rabbit hole. I need to use this platform for my stuff, so I better find ways to work around it.
Starting next week we have April entering the scene, which means the beginning of a new year (quarter) for me ♡
I want to make a separate post for my Quarterly roundup, maybe I’ll write it tonight or tomorrow.
a list for what I hope to focus on for next week:
- Focus on Quarter two goals.
- Get the mobile version of my site working.
- Learn a static site generator for my website (Hugo or 11ty).
- Start a new project.
- Figure out what to do with my channel.
- Apply for some jobs.
