Sunday sessions #19
Happy Sunday!
So. This week I tried to do something more structured - another attempt at following through a schedule. The result? I guess we can call it half successful. I tried to be as lenient as I could while trying to maintain a solid foundation and lots of room to breathe. Big blocks instead of small, strict blocks. The beginning of the week was a bit rough, considering the main task for two days was designing and I accomplished absolutely none of those, but I was still mentally on the right track, still trying, still.. yeah. I didn't give up on the calendar and continued referring back to it, tweaking it, making sure I'm not punishing myself for not following through and instead trying to be more encouraging, positive, and patient. Even when I couldn't do exactly what I wrote down (like "design merch"), I was still trying to focus on it, thinking about it, planning it, doing something related to it. The reason I couldn't do it at all was because I didn't know what the hell I should be designing anyway, so yeah, a much needed focus. I've narrowed my decisions down a bit, and slowly but surely it's forming something more concrete inside my head.
Highlights
- I streamed Apex on last Friday and it was a blast. I decided I wanted to make content again and not tryhard anymore, so I let myself have fun. In the end I got a VOD that I might be able to turn into a "stream moments" and I'm super proud! In other news I also changed my sens from 0.70 to 0.50 and holy shit is this what it feels like to not spasm while aiming?!? I felt like my aim was steady (the only downside is I can't do a full u-turn let alone move as much, but I guess the trade off can be worth it since I can't do movement to save my own life anyway!)
- I finally got my ass off and started working on social reels. The past few weeks I've been planning on using Tiktok to find my audience. As much as I don't want to be in corporate social media spaces, I need it because everyone is basically there. I'm trying to put on this mindset of "I'm going to take advantage of the platform, not the other way around" to cope with the fact that I still have to rely on it as an aspiring artist. It's either that or a traditional job after all, and I'm not so sure I want the latter.
- I tried making a reference sheet for my persona. Drawing full body is really hard as I tend to just focus on drawing faces (i love drawing eyes!!!), but I must learn anatomy as a proper artist!! I want to unlock all the capabilities of being able to draw full body girls!!!
- I redrew an old vtuber fanart that I've been working on for years. I tried to experiment with coloring (it's.. hard.) It looks okay, not super proud of it because I kinda rushed it but it's okay. We all start somewhere.
- I also tried designing my lil buddy companion for my persona. For now I've come up with a "ghost traveller in a raincoat" lil guy, but I still have lots of other ideas and shapes I wanna explore.
- another successful week of tiktok dailies! Can you believe we're 180 days in 2024?
- Scheduled old reels to post on my dead Instagram account as an experiment. I really don't want to use IG anymore because of the whole AI thing they're sadistically shoving down our throats like it was their kink, but the audience/art community that I want to be a part of is there, so there's that.
I'd say this week was a success. Google Calendar has been pretty handy and easy to use so far. I would love more color options tbh, but other than that, I enjoy using it as my main stop for my brain. I'm trying to figure out my perfect organization routine and tools (I haven't been using Obsidian as much because I haven't been writing lately), and so far I have Google Calendar as my main view and the desktop sticky notes for my brain dump (because I have a lot of those!). I'll continue trying to figure out my system (my favorite procrastination method) in hopes I can be more productive from now on (counter intuitive!).
See you next week!
