Sunday sessions #18
Happy Sunday!
I've been procrastinating on writing Sunday sessions during Sundays lol.
Highlights:
- The beginning of the week was really rough. I was hit by existential dread and executive dysfunction. But by Thursday I was able to get up and get some work done!
- I've been dreaming of getting into some locked websites that you can only apply to via invite - VGen (a commission site) and Toyhouse (an OC repository site). I've been dreaming of getting into these sites for years, and on a random Wednesday night I decided to look into some ways to get in, found that TH Discord has people willing to share some codes if you draw their characters, quickly made a fanart for someone bc their character was SO cute and simple, sent it to them, and got in, all in like half an hour. I was half screaming in excitement as I registered and entered the invite code. I felt like a kid who got an amazing present for Christmas.
- My confidence went up, so I started tageting VGen with glaring eyes, "you're next" I whispered softly (lol). I decided to look into options but they all feel too tedious and I didn't want to beg online for likes, so my last option was to see if I had any art mutuals in VGen. Lo and behold.. I realize one of my old Webtoon artist friends HAS one, so she would potentially have an invite code.. AND SHE DID. She replied to message the next day and I squealed with joy. I got into both of those websites in a span of 24 hours... I haven't felt this alive in months.
- I decided to make a carrd as a main hub for my "brand." As much as I'd love to make my website my main home, it didn't feel right to redirect everyone to it, especially when they're from social platforms like TIKTOK and TWITTER. Not to mention, my egirl facade will be attracting the weirdest bunch of people. I have to keep my space sacred.
- I drew a new chibi of my OC for my carrd's main graphic. It's funny because I basically have two "skins" of my OC, only slightly varying in some facial features, expression, and accessories to portray my two different sides (egirl and artist).
- I finished setting up my first official emote commissions!! I'm so happy. I remember setting it up on Ko-fi and feeling like something was missing, like somehow something wasn't right. It felt like it wasn't official, like a half-assed project, like I wasn't ready.. Now that I'm on VGen, I feel so much more confident, comfortable, and ready. It's like, yes, I put a lot of effort into this and I am ready to take on the world!!
- I streamed Overwatch a couple of times. I've been playing a lot of OW lately because it was my first love for video games and Mercy is just so fun. I say it's a game I'll play when I just want to relax, but I tilt the most in this game lol. (The no-aiming part is the reason why i find it chill. Other than that it's a whole head ache!)
- I finished drawing and published another episode of COASC! I like the consistency, but the output feels so short. I used to be able to draw 3 pages in 3 days, now it's like 1 page in a week. But it's okay, we're still trying to slowly ease our way back.
- another week of reels! You know what's funny? I've been doing this for 180 days, and for the past few weeks it's been consistently getting 600 views. This is a no-effort project that I literally do in 10 minutes, so it's nothing fancy, but I noticed a trend. When I post my pictures in the very beginning, despite getting the same number of views (600), I get 10x more likes?! I would get only 1-2 on my normal reels, but get 40-50 likes when I post mirror selfies. It's kind of... funny. Keep in mind I don't add hashtags or anything, I've just been posting since the beginning of the year.
This week I'm attempting to try another round of full scheduling, packing each day with something to do as a guideline but making sure it's not over the top by giving each work a lot of hours with lots of room for improvising. It's just funny how I keep trying this method when I know time and time again that it's never really worked, but I don't have much time for all the goals I wanna accomplish anymore, so this is my last resort. I'm hoping for lots of energy for the week...
