May Highlights ๑˚⊹
Most of the productive shit I did was compressed within the last week of the month when I started my Offline Camp.
✦ Offline Camp
For the last week of May I decided to do an offline camp where I log out of mentally addicting social apps like Instagram and Twitter. The result? mental freedom, increased focus, productivity, and a bit of happiness.
✦ Drew illustrations again
Thanks to being offline, I was able to draw four "practice" illustrations to see where my skill is at. I'm so proud to announce that I still got it. Well, it started out pretty rough and basic, getting into the groove again and assessing my skills, but as a seasoned self-taught artist, I know how I can grow and what I lack, so I started studying (re:copying) certain styles (not the actual illustrations but the color palette, brush strokes, and details on how they color). I'm happy to say that when I tell myself 'I can do that,' I'm not lying. I can turn my weaknesses (lighting and messy sketchy line) into strengths.
✦ Streamed some games and art
I've successfully turned streaming into a hobby again, which makes me feel less dreadful thinking about it. I streamed art for a change a few days ago, and that's when I did my new most favorite illustration piece. Despite not getting a lot of viewers for that, I'm still happy I get to produce something online after all my offline shenanigans. I wish I could continue making stuff in the future as well.
✦ Another month of daily reels
I'm surprised this endeavor is still going strong in its 150th day despite all the late uploads and lazy editing. It's become a habit to record at least 2-4 seconds worth of clips for whatever interesting I'm doing at the time, and there were days where I barely did anything at all so I just take a long filler of my background just to fill the day (which tells me in the future that I absolutely wasted my time that day!)
✦ Read some books
I decided to use my little pot of RNG to pick a random book everyday when I'm bored and want to take a break from the computer. I've finished a few manga I got on the shelf, luckily it's the one that's getting picked the most because it's quick and easy to digest lol. And at the same time it's making me want to draw manga again.. so I'm kinda contemplating on that now..
✦ Played some games
I impulsively bought 5 new games sometime in the last week and I felt like a rebellious kid lol. I started two new ones: Chillquarium (a chill idle aquarium game) and Spirit City (a productive game), and despite the latter being a 'productive app' with its lofi music and to-do lists and stuff, I ended having Chillquarium as my cozy background game (gotta grind the fishies).
Also Ace Attorney was kinda annoying lol. I was not expecting a very weird, unserious plot in a "detective" game.
✦ Started cooking food
I have been eating processed junk for the past month, cycling between scrambled eggs, hotdogs, spam, and corned beef. When I saw my brother's steak on the freezer, I finally found a chance to cook something for a change, a recipe that I found on Instagram weeks prior that looked so good and simple to make. It's funny because I lacked two of the important ingredients for the sauce, which was mushroom and beef cubes, so I had to improvise with what we had in the pantry and made an absolutely fucking heaven of a dish. Every bite got my eyes rolling backwards, I'm not kidding. I am adding that food in my list of 'things better than sex.' It turns out the flour that I used was actually my favorite fried chicken breading from the PH.
After experiencing that, I don't think I can go back to eating junk again.
